People are still keen to go out to eat, experts have suggested.

Experts have reassured those looking for restaurant work that the future of the hospitality sector remains bright.

There has been speculation that any slow down in the UK economy could encourage the public to stay away from restaurants but Robin Rowland, the chief executive YO! Sushi, told the Times that Brits are not going to lose their taste for visiting good restaurants.

"Customers see eating out as ingrained in their lifestyle."

"Successful premium casual dining chains and 'now' brands are well set to tackle a consumer slowdown," he added.

Wayne Brown, an analyst at investment bank Altium Securities, is also optimistic, telling the Manchester Evening News that the recent performance of the Restaurant Group, which owns Frankie & Benny's and Garfunkel's, provided yet more hope for the future.

"Not only is the eating out market in the UK still growing, but the medium to long-term outlook remains positive," he said.

With a number of high profile events scheduled to take place in the UK this year, including the European Capital of Culture celebrations in Liverpool, it is likely that more firms will be looking to recruit people to fill hospitality jobs.
