Two new sandwich restaurants have been opened in the Republic of Ireland by global chain Quiznos Subs, it has been reported.

According to the Irish Franchise Magazine, University College Cork and the City Square Shopping Centre in Waterford, both in the south-east of the country, are now home to the 12th and 13th outposts of the firm.

The new properties join the existing outlets in the region, including eight in Dublin, and one each in Carlow, Cork and Limerick.

Further restaurant work opportunities are set to be created in the months to come as the firm currently has two properties undergoing design and construction work ahead of their launch.

Quznos has been established in Ireland since November 2004 and also offers contract catering services.

Since the first restaurant was opened in the US state of Colorado in 1981, the chain has launched more than 5,000 restaurants in 21 countries across the world.

It estimates that a new Quiznos opens every 16 hours, serving sandwiches, soups, salads and desserts.
