Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is considering providing contract catering services to British Airways, it has been reported.
Yesterday, the chef unveiled his latest restaurant, Plane Food, at Heathrow's brand new Terminal 5 (T5) complex, a hub for almost all British Airways flights departing and arriving at the north-west London airport.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, Mr Ramsay revealed that he could provide food service to passengers once they take to the air in the future and is discussing the possibility of handling in-flight catering for British Airways with airline bosses.
"Since T5 is a BA-only terminal, it would seem the perfect synergy," he said.
However, the project may not come to fruition until later this year, with Mr Ramsay saying he wants to devote six months to getting Plane Food established.
While Gordon Ramsay Holdings currently operates seven other restaurants and three pubs in the UK, as well as four US eateries and six venues across the rest of the world, the focused chef said he is intent on further expansion.
"I want to create the most successful diversified restaurant group in the world," he commented.
Upcoming projects include more pubs, another restaurant, a hotel and the nationwide roll-out of bistro Foxtrot Oscar.
