Catering company Aramark could continue to create sous chef jobs in the new year after announcing a record increase in contract retention this year.
It recorded a 95 per cent like-for-like annual growth in business retention, increasing profits from £38.5 million in 2010 to £78 million in 2011, reports Caterer and Hotelkeeper.
Some of the contracts it has retained include the BBC, BP and Queen Mary's Sidcup NHS Trust, with 54 clients overall deciding to stay with the caterer.
Andrew Main, chief executive, said the company has decided to focus on existing relationships and core activity given the difficult economic climate.
"Key to our success has been our experience, insight and track-record of working in specific sectors, like education, healthcare and defence for many years," he added.
Mr Main argued the business model of catering has changed and working closely with the client is now essential.
Aramark employs over 12,500 people in the UK, some at its Innovation Centre where new menus are developed.
