Hotels in Scotland continued to generate more revenue per room than their rivals in England and Wales in November 2007, new figures have revealed.
Accountancy and business advice firm PKF found that hotel rooms in the region saw yields of £57.21 per night, the Scotsman reports.
This was 78p higher than hotels in Wales and £3.14 higher than England
Aberdeen, located in the east of the country, was the star performer and saw room yields rise by 11.9 per cent, giving a boost to people interested in local hospitality jobs in the city.
Alastair Rae, a partner at PKF, told the Scotsman: "Hotels in Aberdeen continue to perform exceptionally well which must be, at least in part, due to the performance of the oil and gas sector which had a record year in 2007."
While the presence of a number of multi-national energy firms is important, Aberdeen also attracts visitors looking for a relaxed city break and is popular spot for tourists to spend some time before heading to the Orkney and Shetland Islands on one of the ferries which regularly leave the city's bustling port.
