Plans to build a £20 million hotel development at Brighton Marina have been unveiled, which could create hundreds of hospitality jobs.
The move will build a 150-room four-star hotel, along with shops, bars and restaurants, which look out across Brighton beach towards the pier.
Parts of the building would be built above the water over the marina, with pillars supporting the structure, which is to be designed by Wilkinson Eyre Architects.
The development is also expected to provide conference and meeting room facilities, along with a health spa, bar, restaurant, flats, and shops, and is aiming to attract some 3,200 new residents to the area.
Andrew Goodall, of Brunswick Developments, told the Argus newspaper: "We always planned to make more of the western breakwater. The views from there are fabulous.
"We believe it complements the existing leisure and commercial offering at Brighton Marina and would be a very welcoming building for those who are approaching the marina from the west."
