Around 4,000 new hotel jobs are set to be created in the UK by InterContinental Hotels over the next few years, it has been revealed.

The chain – which operates properties around the world under seven brands including Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn – told Caterer that it plans to launch a hospitality recruitment drive to find people for a range of roles.

Among the jobs up for grabs will be 44 general manager posts and 3,000 hotel staff positions, including reception and restaurant work.

Tracy Robbins, the executive vice-president of global human resources at the firm, told the publication: "We are facing a war for talent to find skilled, experienced hotel staff.

"We need to attract and inspire the very best people at all levels to support our company growth plans."

The firm previously revealed that it plans to introduce its Hotel Indigo and Staybridge Suites brands to the UK market this year after they proved to be a success for the company in the US.

Andrew Cosslett, the chief executive of InterContinental Hotels, said the firm is "positioned well for future growth".

"We are continuing to strengthen our brands, and to expand their geographic reach."
