A visitor centre, four-star hotel and a spa may be included in a 250 million (£194 million) tourism plan for the Boyne Valley, County Louth, in Ireland, it has been reported.
In news which may interest people seeking a career in hospitality jobs, the proposals for the 70-acre site have been submitted to the local council by developers Treasury Holdings, according to The Irish Times.
A significant employment boost will be given to the area by the project, with local jobs running into the hundreds, says chairman of the company Dermot Dwyer.
Other elements of the development are said to encompass an activity centre, holiday cottages and permanent housing as well as botanic gardens.
Mr Dwyer suggested to the publication the economic effects may be similar to the case of its County Wicklow-based Ritz-Carlton hotel where 250 hotel jobs were created.
In other news, the Good Food Ireland Awards were recently held to reward excellence in the catering industry, with a cookery school and a country house and hotel among the winners, the newspaper reported.
