Recruitment in the hotels and hospitality sector remains in healthy shape, according to an expert.
Hotel chain Travelodge recently announced it is planning to create 450 new jobs by opening 22 new hotels across the UK from now until Christmas.
According to Paula Rogers, managing director at hospitality staffing firm Admiral, a recession does not mean that the hotel industry will suddenly stop doing good business.
"It is brilliant. They are carrying on with their plans. I sit on the employment committee for the BHA [British Hospitality Association]. I think it is a message to say it is business as usual," she told Recruiter.
"People will still need to stay in hotels for business and pleasure. The world is not coming to a standstill."
She added that the industry may be actually bolstered by the fact that more tourists may come to the UK in light of the weak pound.
Elsewhere, it was recently reported that a new hotel and five restaurants have been given the go-ahead in Leicester Square.
