An Irish company has announced plans to open a £40 million designer hotel in Edinburgh in 2010.
The Fitzpatrick Design Collection, owner of the Beacon and Morgan hotels in Dublin, announced its first move into the UK earlier this week.
Baxters Place, next to the Playhouse Theatre in the east end of the city, is to be the location for the designer hotel, which will create more than 100 jobs for the city.
Among the features incorporated into the establishment will be a 150-seat restaurant, cocktail bar and lounge, as well as conference and business facilities.
Paul Fitzpatrick of Fitzpatrick Design Collection, said: Edinburgh one of the" most desirable" places in Europe to visit.
"The site at Baxter's Place offers us exactly the opportunity weve been looking for which is an architecturally rich building in a gateway location, brimming with restaurants, bars and entertainment," he said.
The Fitzpatrick Design Collection was founded in 2001 by Paul Fitzpatrick.
