A national hotel chain has submitted plans for a brand new £3.5 million hotel in Cornwall.
Whitbread wants to open a three-storey 60-bedroom Premier Inn and ancillary Beefeater restaurant at the Dunveth Industrial Estate at the top of West Hill in Wadebridge.
The plans were previously refused by North Cornwall district council as the land had been designated for employment, reports thisiscornwall.co.uk.
However, Whitbread has reworked the application to include business units, office and industrial floor space.
It is believed that the new development could create 106 local jobs if given the go-ahead.
A Whitbread spokesman said: "In addition to meeting the need for overnight accommodation, our investment will create local jobs and benefit businesses in the area by bringing visitors to the town."
In related news, Travelodge is planning to make a £2 million investment by building a hotel with between 45 and 53 bedrooms in the Wadebridge region.
