Plans for the New Road development in Worcester which will include a 122-room hotel complex have been revised.

An 80-bedroom hotel has already been given the go-ahead, but application to increase the capacity will be submitted shortly.

The new hotel complex will incorporate a restaurant, club shop, car park, a new atrium entrance, as well as a new administration block for the club – which may be of note to those looking for hotel jobs.

It is hoped that the hotel complex could open for business in late 2010.

Speaking to BBC Hereford & Worcester, Worcestershire's chief executive Mark Newton said the plans were in keeping with the city's ongoing development.

"Worcester is undergoing a huge transformation with the centre university campus and waterfront living around the Diglis Basin," Newton said.

He added that his organisation is looking forward to creating a "vibrant partnership" with Premier Inn in the coming years.

Premier Inn has also proposed plans for a 'floating hotel' on its site at the Hartlepool Marina.
