A hotel in the centre of Belfast is set to receive a £60 million expansion, it has emerged.

The owners of Ten Square have submitted an application to build 85 new bedrooms, an underground swimming pool and conference rooms.

Furthermore, it is thought that around 75 local jobs could be created if the plans are given the go-ahead.

As well as hospitality jobs, Ten Square general manager Kevin Smyth pointed out that around 100 construction vacancies would also be created by the expansion.

He commented: "This is a massive investment and we look forward to the further growth and development of the hotel in the coming years as an asset to the city.

"The time is right to once again reinvest for the future."

In other news, it was recently reported that a former council office block in Edinburgh is to be transformed into the new Apex Waterloo Place hotel.
