A new hotel development in Scarborough is likely to open in May, bringing 30 hospitality jobs to the seaside town, according to reports.
The £5.6 million Travelodge hotel will open its doors on the 21st of the month; following a redevelopment of what was the St Nicholas Hotel, complete with new bedrooms and a full refurbishment of existing rooms, reports the Scarborough Evening News.
When completed, the development will boast 140 bedrooms and a new bar, cafe and eatery, providing restaurant jobs to the local area.
Commenting on the addition of a Travelodge, David Frank, chairman of the Scarborough Hospitality Association, told the local newspaper: "It is very beneficial to have a major player coming to Scarborough as they will be advertising the town as a resort on their website, which holiday makers across the country will view."
Visitor numbers to the coastal town may be boosted this summer, with a report by Visit England suggesting that 20 per cent of Brits who holidayed abroad last year will opt for a domestic trip in 2009.
