Tourists discovering the whole British Isles

Tourists have been flocking to far away domestic holiday locations as the pound has struggled against the euro, it has been claimed.

Jonathan Cudworth, head of product marketing at Expedia.co.uk, says holidaymakers have headed to destinations off the UK mainland as they search a new holiday experience, with Jersey and the Channel Islands particularly popular.

He states: "Jersey is a corner of Britain with a continental twist, it is not quite Britain but it's not France.

"It's got a nice blend of the British pound with a continental feel to it because you have to fly there so it feels like you are going abroad."

Indicating that hospitality recruitment may be a beneficiary of this emerging trend, he suggested that Brits are heading to places where eating and drinking is cheaper, in order to spend more on travel and accommodation.

Last week, the Herald Express reported that waiting-on and chef jobs were available at the £500,000 Dartmouth Apprentice restaurant in Totnes, Devon.
