More Brits booking holidays

UK families are becoming more relaxed with their purse strings when it comes to holiday spending, according to one travel expert.
Darren McCormick, head of aviation at Travel Counsellors, said that even in the current climate, people are becoming more confident in their spending and a rise in the number of holidays purchased has been seen.
He said that more customers are waiting until the last minute to take advantage of the best deals, aiming to capitalise on the lowest prices.
Mr McCormick added: "If you book through an agent, that can provide added value for money and can shop around on your behalf, you will still be able to get good value for money, even with these price hikes."
A rise in the number of UK holidaymakers taking breaks could potentially boost tourism in the Republic of Ireland, encouraging catering and hospitality recruitment in Dublin and in other areas of the Emerald Isle.
The recent surge of the pound against the Euro may just encourage more mainland Brits to head across the Irish Sea to Eire this summer.
