The London 2012 Olympic Games should continue to draw additional visitors to the UK even after the sporting festivities have come to an end, it has been suggested.
Eurostar commercial director Nick Mercer said there is going to be a massive legacy effect of the Games on leisure tourism - something which should positively affect the recruitment market and create longer-term opportunities for those working in Olympic jobs.
He suggested that hotels in London could see increased occupancy rates after 2012 after the city is showcased to a global television audience both due to a rise in the volume of holidaymakers visiting the capital and the number of conference events and meetings staged.
Mr Mercer added: "If we're clever and do this properly and we can coordinate between hotels and tourist boards, the London community can get a substantial boom."
Speaking to Recruiter Magazine, Gary King, director at hospitality staffing firm Collins King & Associates, recently claimed that the London 2012 Olympic Games will bring about recruitment opportunities in a number of sectors, including catering and hospitality.
