Domestic holidays set to reign supreme

The 'staycation' holiday trend of Brits reducing costs by staying in the UK is going nowhere, it has been claimed.
In comments which bode well for the creation of hotel jobs across the UK, Dennis Klett, co-founder and director of Domegos.co.uk, said families would continue to look to UK destinations for their summer break.
He stated: "We have this increased staycation bookings on our website and that increase was 21 per cent."
Mr Klett noted that while the pound remains weak a holiday in Spain will be much more expensive than one taken in the UK.
"If you stay within the UK, you are going to save on transportation costs; you don't have to fly anywhere," he added.
Research conducted by hospitality jobs provider Travelodge last month indicated that the number of Brits going abroad has fallen from 33 per cent in 2008 to 27 per cent in 2009.
Some 32 per cent are now planning on holidaying domestically, a finding which could spark hospitality recruitment at popular tourist destinations.
