Axed hotel workers in Peterborough have been boosted by the announcement that a new hospitality recruitment drive is to take place in the town.
Just one week after staff at the Great Northern Hotel were made redundant, the premises' new managers have readvertised an initial 17 positions, with more to follow, reports the Evening Telegraph.
Among the roles being advertised are duty managers, chef jobs, kitchen and restaurant workers, porters, bar staff and a gardener.
Hotel director Lindsey Blewett said: "We are looking for highly- motivated staff who are excited about coming on board with us for the opening of our brand new hotel, and about being part of a new team taking the Great Northern forward into its next chapter.
"We are an exciting new business advertising jobs at a time when there are a lot of people looking for work in Peterborough, so we are expecting a lot of people to come along."
Ms Blewett added that The Great Northern is going to be a "fresh, bright hotel" restored to its former glory.
The Advertiser recently reported how a new hotel could be built as part of the £120 million redevelopment of a derelict riverbank site in Norwich, creating hospitality jobs in East Anglia.
