The London Olympic Games development is proceeding on time and budget, according to Lord Sebastian Coe.
With exactly three years to go until the opening ceremony for the 2012 Games, he said 4,000 people were already employed in Olympic jobs in east London as construction work gathers pace.
Speaking to the Telegraph, he said the Olympic Delivery Authority had to date sought work worth more than £3.5 billion from 935 companies and it was expected 75,000 business opportunities will become available by 2012.
Lord Coe added: "Hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012 means UK-wide benefits, such as new job and business opportunities for thousands in tough economic times.
"The foundations are laid, venues are rising out of the ground and we've raised £530 million, which is a huge chunk of the funding needed to be hosts in 2012."
David Rushton, director of UK field sales at Accor Hotels UK, claimed this month that Olympic jobs could be created in London hotels for 2012 in order to meet customer demand for high service levels.
