Two Scottish hotels are set to be redeveloped as part of a £7.4 million scheme, it has been revealed.
Ugadale Hotel in Machrihanish and the Royal Hotel in Campbeltown will be restored by US firm Southworth Development.
The projects, which could create hotel jobs in Argyll where both facilities are based, have been partly funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), which has contributed £1.12 million.
John Swinney, Scotland's finance secretary, said: "Today's announcement from HIE of support for Argyll tourism through approved investment in hotels in Machrihanish and Campbeltown, shows new projects are still going ahead and that there are reasons to be optimistic about Scotland's recovery."
However, he also warned against complacency.
Yesterday, the Hospitality Industry Trust Scotland unveiled this year's Emerging Talent Scholarship scheme.
The £100,000 project is aimed at helping 200 individuals in hospitality jobs access training opportunities and people can start applying for a place from today (October 27th).
