Liverpool's Hope Street Hotel has reopened after a £4.5 million expansion.
The redevelopment, which could boost hotel jobs in the area, saw the establishment takeover the building next door, a former police station.
Following the completion of the work, the hotel now has 41 extra bedrooms, bringing the total to 89.
Commenting on the project, Dave Brewitt, the establishment's owner, said: "The whole team was very excited and passionate about the challenge of this new build. We have spent two years on this project, paying meticulous attention to detail."
The project aimed to build on the style of the existing building at the same time as making a strong architectural statement, he added.
Meanwhile, Manchester might also provide a hotel jobs boost for the north-west in the near future.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Stephen Miles, chairman of the city's hoteliers association, revealed that plans are afoot to build a fully-functional hotel specifically designed for staff training purposes.
