New hotel jobs look set to be created in Birmingham after planning chiefs approved a new development in the city.
Hotel La Tour, a new chain based in Northamptonshire, has earmarked a site in the area to build a flagship 16-storey hotel, the Birmingham Mail reported.
The 204-room hotel will cost around £20 million to build and will also be home to a bar, gym and restaurant, meaning other hospitality jobs could also be created.
Commenting on the move, council Peter Douglas Osborne, chairman of the planning committee, said: "Hopefully it will kick-start a number of developments in Eastside and I am sure we all welcome it."
The hotel will be based at City Park Gate and will create 50 new jobs.
Hotel jobs also look set to be created in near by Walsall with the Express and Star reporting that a Premier Inn could be built in the town's Waterfront area.
