St Andrews hotel rewarded by Forbes magazine

The Old Course Hotel in St Andrews, Scotland, has become the only UK hotel to be named as one of Forbes' World's Most Exclusive Hotels.

Recognising the world's most exclusive and luxurious hotels, the list is chosen by a panel of travel experts who select the most lavish hotels, taking into account their price point and uniqueness.

Debbie Taylor, managing director at the Old Course Hotel, said: "We are honoured to have been named as one of the most exclusive hotels in the world. It is testament to our dedication in achieving excellence and recognises our iconic status as the most famous golf resort in the world."

She added that the hotel was "a truly unique destination" and said that its success was partly down to its personal service and attention to detail.

More of the finest establishments north of the border will be recognised at Scotland's Emerging Talent Conference this February, when the Hospitality Industry Trust stages the 2010 industry event in Perth.
