An A-listed building is set to be redeveloped into a £35 million arts hotel, creating hospitality jobs in Edinburgh, reports the Scotsman.
Calton Hill's former Royal High School building has been vacant since 1968 but the new plans will see a host of hospitality jobs created as the development will include a restaurant, cafe and public gallery.
The site's developer, Duddingston House Properties, beat more than 50 bidders to land the contract and will work with Glasgow-based Gareth Hoskins Architects who will draw-up the designs.
Council leader Jenny Dawe told the newspaper: "This is a hugely exciting development for one of Edinburgh's, and Scotland's, best-loved landmarks, particularly as it will bring the former Royal High back into public use for the first time in over 40 years."
Another Scottish firm, Dobbies Garden Centres, was this week given the go-ahead to start construction on a garden centre which will create restaurant jobs in Northern Ireland, according to the Belfast Telegraph.
