Boutique hotel gets all clear in Hoxton

Plans for a 247-room hotel in Hoxton, east London, have been given the all clear and the development could help to boost hotel jobs in the capital.

Soneva Properties won planning consent for the new boutique establishment, which is situated on City Road, opposite Moorfields Eye Hospital, and is very close to the City of London.

The hotel has been designed by Squire and Partners and features a facade which becomes larger as the building rises, eventually exposing panoramic views of the City area.

"At ground and lower ground floors, the building skin 'lifts' on the diagonal to reveal the hotel lobby, public bar and restaurant, all clearly visible from the street," the designers stated.

In other London hotel news, Claridge's was given the Investors in People's Health and Wellbeing Good Practice Award earlier this month because of its focus on ensuring the improvement of its staff's wellbeing.
