Two new hotels have received planning permission in Northern Ireland, in a move that will create over 100 hospitality jobs in Londonderry, environment minister Alex Attwood has said.
Premier Inn has been granted approval for a 60-bedroom hotel and restaurant development on a site at Crescent Link in the Waterside, the BBC reports.
Meanwhile, a 116-bedroom venue on the Strand Road, also in Derry, has been given the go-ahead and will be run by the Duddy Group.
In total, the developments will bring 105 hotel jobs to the region, including full and part-time roles for bar staff and restaurant workers.
"This is a welcome example of planning serving economic needs at a time of opportunity for the city," Mr Attwood told the news provider.
Last month, the development of a new Premier Inn hotel in West Yorkshire was announced.
The Yorkshire Post reported that the venue will be situated opposite the new Leeds Arena once completed in 2013.
