A hotel in County Londonderry will give up the Radisson brand and become an independent business in the new year - news which could have an impact on hotel recruitment in the region.

Limavady's Radisson Blu Roe Park Resort will be renamed the Roe Park Resort as part of a £2.5 million investment plan by the owners.

The four-star resort and golf course stayed under the Radisson umbrella for 16 years, generating sales of over £20 million across the last three years, but has decided the time is right to change the company's strategy.

General manager George Graham told Insider Ireland the hotel employs up to 200 staff at peak season and is worth over £4.5 million annually to the local economy.

"The resort is currently outperforming the market and we are confident this success will continue," he added.

Limavady has a population of around 32,000 and incorporates Benone beach, the first one in Ireland to be awarded a blue flag for hygiene.
