Hospitality recruitment in Sunderland is set for a boost as a new Travelodge hotel complex makes a number of positions available and gives a fillip to tourist trade in the area.
The High Street West development will open later this year, reports the Sunderland Echo. Planning permission was granted for the site in November of last year.
It will consist of a four-storey, 82-bedroom hotel with a variety of commercial premises on the ground floor.
Michelle Luxford, human resources director at Travelodge, said: "We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and committed individuals who want a long-term career in hospitality."
The scheme has also met with the approval of city officials, who feel Sunderland needs more hotels in order to attract tourists to the city.
Hendon councillor Michael Mordey expressed hope that this initial development would attract further investment to Wearside.
Travelodge recently announced plans to create more than 1,000 jobs across the UK in 2012 as it rolls out plans to expand its hotel portfolio.
