Hotel jobs could be generated by the refurbishment of the Riviera Hotel in Weymouth, Dorset, after it announced plans to take on another 90 staff as part of the redevelopment project.

The scheme to revamp the hotel will cost around £4 million and the establishment is expected to be open to visitors by spring of this year, reports the Dorset Echo.

A number of different hospitality positions are likely to be created through the move, with managers, reception staff and porters all in demand.

General manager Kevin Bungay said: "I'm excited about what this will mean for the town. It's great to see the hotel coming back to life."

The hotel has been undergoing refurbishment for the last 15 months, with a new restaurant and redesigned rooms expected from the finished project.

Speaking to the Dorset Echo before the redevelopment began, hotel manager Jon Wright explained that much of the hotel was outdated despite a "stunning" facade and explained work was needed to bring it up to modern hospitality standards.
