Hotel management jobs could be generated in London after the Edwardian Group continued its UK expansion by purchasing London's iconic Odeon West End cinema in Leicester Square, revealing plans to create a 245-bed hotel on the site.

The cinema, built in 1930, is opposite the larger flagship cinema Odeon Leicester Square, which often hosts UK and European film premieres.

Robert Morley, director of Edwardian Group, said the company saw this acquisition as another prestigious site to add to their 12-strong hotel operation in the capital city.

"Not only will it be a landmark development for the capital but it will create upwards of 400 jobs," he added.

"Investment in potential, creation of jobs and a huge vision for the future" are crucial to the continued success of the Edwardian Group's brand, Mr Morley explained.

The company has establishments in Manchester as well as London and is owned by Carlson Companies, a multinational hospitality firm which operates in over 140 countries worldwide.
