New Spalding restaurants 'boost town'

The upcoming opening of two new restaurants is a sign of the vibrancy of Spalding, according to a council official.
Bruce Wakeling, the economic development manager at South Holland District Council, told Spalding Today that people in the area are benefiting from an expanding number of eateries in the town and that it could help encourage them to eat out in the local area.
"We have a good variety already in the town and with new restaurants opening this will increase this.
"It will obviously lead to competition but if we have a good selection then people are going to say 'we are going to Spalding' for meals rather than going miles out to Peterborough or Boston," he explained.
Over the next few months, the town is set to see the creation of new restaurant work roles at Italian chain Prezzo, which is set to open at Elsom House in Broad Street, and Medz on Station Road.
Earlier this month, the Spalding Guardian reported that fast-food chain McDonald's is also looking to expand its operation in the town, submitting an application to extend the opening hours of its outlet in Holbeach Road.
