More Irish applying for hospitality jobs

There has been an increase in the number of applications for positions in the restaurant and pub trade in Ireland, according to a recent report.
Some experts believe this is due to people recognising the earning potential in the sector, with hospitality jobs as a result shrugging off the misconception they can be quite "menial" roles, the Herald claims.
Now the country is in the position where Irish people are competing with immigrant workers for these coveted positions.
Tom Cleary, spokesman for the Licensed Vintners Association, told the publication: "For the first time [in years], Irish nationals are applying for jobs in the waiting and kitchen areas."
Some recruitment agencies have also observed the trend, the source says.
A survey from leading catering recruitment website www.caterer.com revealed last week that workers in hospitality are the happiest in their jobs.
The poll found 49.16 per cent of these employees expressed they felt genuine enthusiasm and dedication towards their roles.
