Plans for Britain's only working pub in a church have been given the green light from the Church of Scotland, it has been reported, with the suggestion of local jobs on completion.
If successful, the licensed premises, built into the Lansdowne Parish church at Kelvinbridge, west of Glasgow, will operate there during the week, according to the Publican.
The church will hold its normal Sunday worshipping hours.
David Hawat, local lawyer and supporter of the project, told the publication: "It could add something to the area without causing any problems - this part of the area doesn't have too many licences, and this wouldnt be just another pub."
The pub's creation will mean essential restoration work on the church itself, restoring another piece of history connected to the site, the great south window crafted by Alfred Webster.
Glasgow aims to achieve a 60 per cent growth in income from tourism in the city and boost jobs in the sector to 40,000 by 2016.
