Pub jobs are to be created in Telford with the reopening of the Gate Inn at Bratton.

The establishment is back in business after a £100,000 refurbishment and will provide 15 hospitality jobs to the local area, including bar staff and kitchen jobs, reports the Shropshire Star.

As part of its transformation, the pub now benefits from a new kitchen, bar and dining room, while an inglenook fireplace, authentic beams and oak flooring have all been uncovered.

Co-owner Yvonne Young, who bought the establishment when it closed last June along with another local resident Nigel Wainwright, told the newspaper: "Living in Bratton, it's the nearest pub in walking distance and we had always said it could be a great little business."

She added that it is hoped the pub will attract ramblers and cyclists as the Silkin Way walk ends nearby.

Local pub restaurants could be in for a boost as research by Thomson Local highlights that consumers are increasingly looking for value-for-money and familiar food.

According to the Publican, research by the group highlights that the number of consumers looking for outlets serving 'pub food' has increased almost sevenfold compared to March 2008.
