Dublin's first pub sale of the year has taken place, in a move which may safeguard local jobs in the Irish capital.
Smyth's public house in Malahide, north County Dublin, has been purchased for 7 million (£6.3 million), in a deal which also sees title pass on two adjoining properties.
The ale house will be run as a pub business by the Fowler family, who already own the Grange Cross pub in Ballyfermot.
Pub manager Derek Fowler had been looking for a second business to operate with his wife Connie and their son, it is reported.
Mr Fowler is a former chairman of the Dublin publicans' representative body, the Licensed Vintners Association.
Last week, the Irish Independent reported that The Globe on South Great George's St in Dublin had been put on the market for sale by its receivers.
The pub and nightclub complex is located immediately adjacent to the Temple Bar area in the Irish capital.
