Pub managers urged not to worry about alcohol duty increase

Professionals seeking pub manager and bar jobs in the UK have been reassured that the decision to increase alcohol duty will not dissuade consumers from visiting their local.
Hospitality staff may have been concerned about a further downturn in trade across the pub industry, but two leading recruiters say this is not likely to happen.
Speaking to Recruiter Magazine, Gary King, director at hospitality recruiter Collins King Associates, claimed the two per cent tax rise was "a minimal increase".
He commented: "In a recession, people tend to drink more. It is just a way for the government to bring in extra income."
Jacqui Sterry, managing director at Mise en Place, echoed Mr King's comments, claiming drinkers were unlikely to begrudge paying an extra penny to help pay off the UK's debt.
Last week, national brewer Greene King announced plans to raise £207.5 million from a rights issue, as it attempts to expand its pub empire.
