The Torbay Hospitality Association says predicted warm weather for summer 2009 is one of the reasons for families to stay on UK shores for their holidays this year.
Gordon Oliver, chairman of the UK's largest private sector tourist organisation, says tourists can avoid long waits and delays at airports by travelling to the English Riviera for their seasonal break
He comments that it is easier to travel to various parts of the UK by car, rail or coach.
Mr Oliver adds: "Torbay is the second largest resort in Britain, with 22 miles of coastline and some of the best tourist attractions in Britain.
"It offers a wide range of holiday accommodation, from hotels to self-catering accommodation there is something for everyone."
Tim Fullam, marketing director at holiday firm Hoseasons, recently claimed that internet searches for information on seaside resorts such as Torquay and Newquay have increased by 160 per cent this year alone comments which may encourage further hospitality recruitment in the south-west of England.
