The Six Nations opener was a huge opportunity for pub managers in Wales to boost sales, according to WalesOnline.
Despite the match being played at Twickenham in London, the weekend was billed as one of the biggest of the year for pub managers in Wales.
Pub manager at the Gatekeeper on Westgate Street, Cardiff, Casey Warren, told the news provider that he planned to serve food as usual but also removed some seating to allow crowds of fans to stand and watch the match on the big screen.
Hywel Thomas, a spokesperson for Cardiff & Co, which is responsible for promoting the city, told the news provider: "Cardiff's compact city centre has always provided a great match-day atmosphere, where a nation of people passionate about rugby can come together to ponder the likely events on the field."
The Cardiff atmosphere was dampened on the day, however, as England took victory by 30 points to 17.
