Scottish chef Martin Wishart was chosen as the corporate face of Glasgow to showcase the city as a business and conference destination.

A crowd of 300 of Singapore's most influential business leaders were treated to the finest Scottish cuisine prepared by Wishart and fellow award-winning chefs at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore.

Speakers appealed to graduates of Glasgow's universities to encourage their companies and organisations to hold their annual meetings in the city.

Ballie Liz Cameron, the deputy chair of the Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, commented: "Conferences and conventions have played a vital role in the city's economic transformation.

"The Asia Pacific region is a rapidly expanding market for conferences, and Glasgow is keen to win more business from this part of the world.".

Excellent chefs are increasingly in demand in areas which attract a lot of conference business as their skills are a way of adding value to conference packages, with venue providers engaging in keen competition for the most skilled chefs to they can get an edge over their competitors.
