A new hotel restaurant in the Edinburgh district of South Queensferry has been named Scotland's best place to eat out.
The Grill at Dakota opened just ten months ago but its specialist seafood menu won universal praise at the first Scottish Restaurant Awards ceremony.
Receiving the award in the EICC on Monday evening, decorated chef Roy Brett credited the restaurant's success with its focus on locally-sourced produce and an "honest approach to food".
"I've tried to do it in my own way, so to be recognised in this way is fantastic," the Scotsman quoted Mr Brett as saying.
Commenting on the success of the The Grill, which also won the award for Scotland's Best Hotel Restaurant, the Edinburgh Restaurateurs Association said the Lothian region was earning a reputation as one of the country's top places for fine eateries.
"I think it's a great thing that we can pull in nationally-recognised chefs like Roy Brett to this area," chairman Malcolm Duck said. "He's a really nice guy and a great cook and I'd like to congratulate him on the award."
