Dozens of restaurant jobs could open up in Taunton, Somerset after the local council granted a licence to developers hoping to build an outdoors eatery.

The Loch Fyne Restaurant Company plans to create the unique restaurant in the Cider Press Garden – a green space which is popular with visitors in the summer months.

Owners are expected to offer up a number of jobs to chefs, restaurant workers and those trained in hospitality should the plans go ahead.

The outdoor restaurant would be open from April to September each year and allow visitors and local people to enjoy tasty food and wine in the sunshine.

As well as the outdoor site, the company also plans to open a restaurant in the nearby Hunts Court building, opening up yet more restaurant jobs.

Loch Fyne already has 38 restaurants across the UK and is famous for its seafood and shellfish.

It employs more than 1,200 staff across its network - which stretches from Bath and Newcastle to Poole and Edinburgh.
