Helene Darroze has been appointed to manage food service operations at the Connaught hotel in London, it has been announced.

The chef will unveil her new eatery, Helene Darroze at the Connaught, in June and will also be responsible for overseeing casual restaurant The Gallery as well as private dining and room-service.

In autumn, Ms Darroze will also re-launch the Connaught Grill.

Commenting on her appointment, Ms Darroze said: "I visited The Connaught, and fell in love with the hotel both in terms of its history and its philosophy of offering the finest of everything. It felt like a perfect fit."

Stephen Alden, the chief executive of the Maybourne Hotel Group, which owns the Connaught, added that Michelin-starred Ms Darroze is "a very talented chef whose intuition and creativity are second to none".

While some of the staff employed in restaurant work roles at the hotel will be drawn from her Paris restaurant, she is also expected to appoint locals to her team.

Ms Darroze - who trained under renowned chef Alain Ducasse - takes over from Angela Hartnett whose restaurant at the hotel closed last year.
