An Indian restaurant is set to be launched by a pub in Norwich, it has been revealed.
According to the Norwich Evening News, the Harte pub in Town House Road, Costessey, is hoping to get planning permission to turn its function room into an Indian takeaway, with the hostelry considering turning it into an eat-in restaurant at the some point in the future.
Simon Starling, pub manager at Harte, said: "The existing function room was hardly being used so a decision was made to turn it into a take away restaurant.
"It will be open seven days a week and we hope it will be very popular. Indian is a popular cuisine and the nearest Indian is in Horsford which is at least four miles away."
Norwich has seen a number of restaurant work roles created as new eateries have opened up in recent months, including the Kitchen in St Benedicts Street, which boasts a cafe, restaurant and takeaway serving dishes made from locally sourced and organic ingredients.
Jonathan Eves, the owner of the eatery, told the newspaper: "Kitchen aims to differentiate itself on price as well as culinary creativity, meaning people can still enjoy a top quality meal out, whatever their budget."
