Gordon Ramsay among Silver Cateys shortlist

Top chefs recognised for excellence and making a contribution to the hospitality industry for the last quarter of a century have been announced in the shortlist for the Silver Cateys Awards.

People interested in working as a chef will see high-profile names such as Gordon Ramsay and Marco Pierre White among the final list for the prestigious award "that everybody wants to win", according to Caterer and Hotelkeeper.

Richard Shephard, winner of the Cateys 2007 Lifetime Achievement award, said of the accolade: "I believe this to be a fabulous industry that has given me immense satisfaction."

Known for picking out the industry's best performers and most exceptional talents, the Cateys are bestowing this award to celebrate 25 years since their introduction in 1984.

Finalists will find out who has won at a ceremony on July 8th at the Grosvenor House hotel on Park Lane in London.
