More and more Brits are seeking the food culture when they travel around the UK, according to a recent report.
In news which may be of interest to those in hospitality jobs and restaurant work, Dave Hodgson, marketing director from Marketing Birmingham, has said this part of tourism has "really exploded", with people wanting to enjoy good food with their partners and friends.
He was responding to a survey released by visitbirmingham.com, which revealed 38 per cent of people rate high quality restaurants as very important for city breaks.
Mr Hodgson remarked: "When you look at some cities like Leeds, Newcastle and Birmingham, which has 200 restaurants in it, it's about variety and choice and you can do that with friends, you can do that with family, you can do that with couples."
He also pointed out that because people are working harder these days, they will want to get away and reward themselves with dinners out and nightlife.
The visitbirmingham.com poll also saw 40 per cent of respondents say drinks out with friends on a weekend trip was an essential part of the excursion.
