Catering professionals are still in high demand, despite the challenging jobs market, it has been claimed.
Stuart McBride, chief executive of Blue Arrow, said that - while employment figures in the UK are proving to be unstable - job availability is holding strong in some areas.
He pointed out that both the catering and industrial sectors "are seeing an increased requirement for short and medium-term contractors".
Some recruiters have suggested that the UK needs a flexible jobs market which will be able to take advantage of any economic upturns as and when they happen.
In related news, Mark Darby, managing director at Berkeley Scott, recently claimed increased competitiveness in the hospitality sector could result in more catering recruitment.
"I think it should have a positive effect truthfully because if they are looking to increase their clientele through making attractive promotional offers they will fill their restaurants and they will require additional staff to service the people that come through there," he said.
