Pizza chain expansion to create jobs

A pizza chain in Northern Ireland has announced plans to expand its franchise in the region.

Wicklow-based firm Four Star Pizza already runs successful outlets in Belfast, Londonderry and Newtownabbey.

However, dozens of local jobs are to be created as part of its all-island expansion plan, which will include restaurants in Armagh city, Cavan, Dundalk, Leixlip, Letterkenny, Newry, Omagh and Wexford town.

According to the company, the new eateries will provide restaurant work for around 200 people.

Four Star's chief executive Jason Sheehy said his organisation had also noticed an increase in take away orders, with larger pizzas currently finding favour.

"It seems sensible to suggest that these are being bought by families with staying in being the new going out," he said.

In related news, Alan Yau, who opened the first Wagamama restaurant in 1992, recently announced he is planning to launch a new brand in London, despite the challenging market.
