Workers in hospitality jobs in Scotland have seen their wages take a knock due to the effects of the credit crunch.
Almost half of employees in the nation's catering industry have seen a decrease in tips in recent months, with diners tightening their wallets.
Research conducted by Caterer.com highlights that 86 per cent of workers are worried about the effect of the economy, while 58 per cent of respondents say they are already seeing a negative impact on business.
The current economic climate is prompting many workers to move to a new hospitality job, with three-quarters of those considering a switch doing so to improve their salary.
Earlier this month, a government consultation into tips and service charges ended, with many front of house staff calling to be allowed to keep 100 per cent of their tips.
Members of Unite visited the House of Commons to tell ministers that restaurants should not be able to use tips to top up workers' salaries to minimum wage.
