Newbury Racecourse is supporting local produce by launching a menu which celebrates food sourced within 25 miles.

The special menu will be launched on Friday May 15th and served for two months at the racecourse's fine dining eatery Hennessy Restaurant.

Key ingredients being used by the venue's chefs include crayfish from the local River Kennet, mozzarella from Laverstoke Park in Hampshire and asparagus from Cobb's Farm in Hungerford.

The course's head of catering Martin Bunch said that it is "fortunate" to have so much good produce made or grown locally.

"The 25 Mile Menu is a real achievement for us; it capitalises on our commitment to sourcing excellent local, fresh produce without compromising on quality. It also reduces the environmental impact of our catering by reducing our food miles," he added.

Newbury Racecourse boasts two restaurants, the Hennessey and the Racegoers Restaurant, in addition to the Green's Brassiere, providing a number of hospitality jobs in the region.
